  12.                 I had always wanted a collection of the Apple Start-Up Sounds.  I have never seen one on the Net, so I gave up and digitized my own.  Some of the sounds I did not digitize, so I give thanks to the other Macintosh users on the Net.  I do not know the naming convention Apple uses for the different sounds, so I hope the names I have used are acceptable.  All recent Macintosh computers have stored the Start-Up sounds, and some of the Crash sounds, in the ROMs.  This means I could use programs to extract the sounds directly from the ROMs, saving as much quality as possible.  I am currently not distinguishing between the *slightly* different Quadra style Crashes.

  14.                 Some Apple computers may have sounds which are not in this collection.  If this is the case, I would appreciate being contacted about them.

  16.                 The Start-Ups are the normal sounds that occur when any Apple computer is turned on.  The Crashes (also known as the "Hawaiian Death Chimes") are produced by hitting the Programmer's Key (either by hitting the "Reset" button on the computer, or by hitting the "Command-Reset" keys on the keyboard) during the first stages of boot up.  It also occurs during boot up when some low-level errors occur.

  72. 1.3        -    Changed README file with more clear information.  Added LC Start-Up, LC Crash, PowerMac LC Crash, IIfx Crash, and PCI Start-Up.  Removed "Other Apple Sounds" to save space.  Changed the name of the collection to make it clear they are Apple's sounds.  Removed 8-bit versions of some sounds to save space.  Far more accurate "Which Macs Beep" file.
